Travel + Leisure (T+L), a New York-based travel magazine, named three of the Philippines’ island attractions among its “The 25 Best Islands in the World,” and the Department of Tourism (DOT) commended the decision.
On T+L’s list of the world’s best islands, Boracay Island came in at number 9, followed by Palawan at 11, with a picture of a beautiful lagoon in El Nido, and Cebu at number 16, with a view of the Taoist Temple in Cebu City. “Weigh in on travel experiences throughout the globe—to give your ideas on the best cities, islands, cruise ships, spas, airlines, and more,” T+L stated. Many factors were considered, including the number of things to do, the number of natural features and beaches, and the quality of the food and service.

There is no other country in the world like the Philippines, where the unmatched beauty of our natural resources is combined with the friendliness and boundless talent of our people, as evidenced by the inclusion of Cebu, Palawan and Boracay by Travel + Leisure.
Topping T+L’s list of the world’s five best islands is the Philippines’ Boracay and Palawan, Thailand’s Phuket, Indonesia’s Bali, and the Maldives. Travel + Leisure readers warmly remembered pre-Covid-era vacations to the most significant islands in Asia. For T + L, the region’s reopening means they’ll be keen to return to these five ports of call, including the Maldives and Indonesian and Thai islands.
As a result, we’d like to thank everyone involved in the tourism industry — the public as well as the private sector; national and local governments; the previous administration’s efforts; and all of the Department’s dedicated staff members across the country for their dedication and perseverance in the face of the pandemic. By uniting in promoting our strengths, we can showcase the natural beauty of a country,” Frasco said.”
The Philippines has been ranked among the world’s 40 most beautiful countries.

Manila is one of the world’s best cities.
Likewise, TimeOut.com named Manila one of the world’s best cities. A poll of city dwellers around the world yielded this result. The decision was made based on various factors, including environmental friendliness, mouthwatering cuisine, public transportation accessibility, safety, walkability, vibrant nightlife, and influential art and culture. But remember that when people use the word “Manila,” they usually mean the Capital of the Philippines.”
Aiming to elevate the Philippines’ standing in tourism by introducing infrastructure development and enhancements that improve connection and convenience to our locations, Secretary Frasco hoped that this global acknowledgement of the beauty of our natural resources would motivate his team.
