Youngjin Beach is in Gangwon-Jumunjin. do’s The shallow turquoise waters and fine sands of the beach are well known. Walking miles in shallow water against a beautiful blue sky never gets old.
The Korean drama Guardian: The Lonely and Great God, has left several iconic filming locations. The Jumunjin Breakwater was one of the filming locations that drew a lot of attention from the public. The area was featured in Episode 1 of the drama, where both leads, Kim Shin (Gong Yoo) and Ji Eun Tak (Kim Go Eun), first met. Ji Eun Tak accidentally summoned the Goblin while blowing out her birthday candles.
The Jumunjin Breakwater is a stone wall built into the sea to protect the coastline from solid waves and alongshore drift. After the Korean drama Guardian filmed a scene here, the location became a popular tourist destination.
Even though the drama ended five years ago, the set remains popular with the general public. Many couples can be seen wearing red scarves and holding buckwheat flowers, reenacting the scene from the drama.
