Imagine yourself waking up on a tranquil farm, far from the hustle and bustle of the city. This dream can become a reality if you visit Daewallyeong Sheep Farm! In this article, I’ll introduce you to this lovely getaway spot and tell you how to get there and what to do.
This sheep ranch is privately owned, covering an area of 195 km2. In Pyeongchang, there are many ranches, but Daegwallyeong Sheep Ranch is the only one that raises sheep. The field is surrounded by a 1.2-meter-long circular walkway, which allows visitors to see the sheep at all times. This path takes about 40 minutes to walk.
A wooden shack in the field was the backdrop for the film “The Man from Mars.” The wooden shed blends in with the sheep farm and has become a popular photo location. Sign up for the feeding experience to get a closer look at the sheep, where you can feed them hay and even reach out to touch their fuzzy heads.
Over 300 sheep graze on the vast field of Daegwallyeong Nature from spring to late fall in October. During the winter, the sheep stay indoors.
The ranch can be visited in a single day. You have the option of driving yourself or hiring a tour guide. However, they usually combine it on the way to Gangneung, which is not far away.
