Yesterday, my boyfriend, together with our two cute furbabies celebrated Valentine’s Day at the new restaurant in Crosswinds Tagaytay. This time it’s a hillside Japanese restaurant just in front of the Windmill Lausanne.
Tagaytay is an out-of-town destination for residents near metro manila. It has become even more popular as a tourist destination because of restrictions on travel in different parts of the country.
Cafe Yama hillside setting will surely satisfy the visitors to Tagaytay during this pandemic. Our furbabies and I ate outside in a tent. It’s not only a great way to take in the scenery and the cool Tagaytay breeze, but it also reduces the chances of bumping into other diners.
If you’re looking for a more shady spot, head to the main dining area, which is housed in a zen structure evoking a traditional Japanese home. As a nod to the zen aesthetic, the restaurant’s furnishings are crafted from wood. Japanese-inspired decor at Cafe Yama is also worthy of a place on your Instagram feed.
A mural depicting sakedaru, or sake barrels, is the centrepiece of their storefront. With Japanese oil-paper parasols adorning the ceiling and shop banners hanging from the beams, this shop is a shrine to Japanese culture and tradition.
During the evening, lanterns light up the main dining room and the alfresco areas. Japanese cuisine is represented on Cafe Yama’s menu, which includes sushi, sashimi, teppanyaki, or food cooked on an iron pan.
Cafe Yama also serves alcoholic beverages like beer and sake and a wide selection of coffee, including Japanese-inspired lattes. Aside from Cafe Yama, Crosswinds Tagaytay has several other attractions and restaurants you can check out during your time in the area like Joe’s Taverns, Napa at Crosswinds, Ruined Cafe and Windmill Lausanne.
You can also take instagrammable photos with its whimsical bus and takeout area since it has photogenic structures you can check out. There are many Japanese restaurants in Manila, but if you want to dine in a picturesque setting, head to Cafe Yama in Tagaytay.
