The Department of Tourism (DOT) has put together a playlist called “Sounds More Fun in the Philippines,” which includes a mix of Filipino music that will bring listeners back to the places they love and help them remember their best travel memories.
Spotify, a digital music streaming app, will have the first playlists. First, Manila Night Lights and Boracay Beach Bar are the first 10 playlists to be released. Then Cordillera Calm, The Pan-Philippine Highway Road Trip, Marilaque Bike Trail Mix, Balikbayan Juke Box, Counting Clouds in Camiguin, Wedding Vows in Tagaytay, and Deep Dive in Palawan are the next 10 playlists to be released.

For example, there’s a playlist called Cordillera Calm that has OPM songs that will make you feel like you’re drinking a strong cup of coffee. Or there’s the playlist for the Boracay Beach Bar, which has beach vibes that make you want to dance, or the Manila Night Lights playlist, which takes you back to the disco, dance rock, and neo soul days when the city really came alive.
Tourism Secretary Puyat said that these songs will make people think of the places they can go on vacation, as well as the places they can stay away from home.

The playlists are made for every type of listener. The songs on the playlists can be played loud to get people moving before they start their early morning bike trail, or to keep them company on a long road trip; or they can be played softly in the background as one enjoys the bliss that comes after a good surf, or daydreams while lounging on a white sand beach.
A big goal of this is to make people feel like fun is never far away, no matter where they are.
To make the playlists, the DOT asked Filipino music fans for help. People like Ryan Joseph, Jocelyn Blwg, Matt San Pedro, and Patricia Brillante-Silvestre are some of the people who have talked about the show. They also include Myrene Academia, a legendary rock DJ and bassist for Sandwich.
These playlists have songs and artists from the Philippines and from other countries that have Filipino roots, like the bands and artists in these playlists.

“#SoundsMoreFunInThePhilippines is about why and where music is more fun in the Philippines.”
