Traditional Market Place In Gangwon

If you’re looking for great local street food, you must try these markets. Traditional markets can overwhelm people from the West on their first few visits. You feel like your brain will explode from all the new sounds, smells, products, and experiences. Your mind often shuts down quickly, making you want to run away. Give yourself time to make changes. Push through the pain because getting used to a new culture will enrich your life for the rest of your life.

Here are 4 traditional markets in Gangwon

A traditional rural market helps people remember that different cultures have different values and ways of doing things. Keep in touch with your empathy and be kind to yourself so that your mind has time to expand its view of the world to include these new points of view.

Wonju Jungang Market

The traditional market in Wonju has delicious foods and snacks! Wonju Jungang Market, which opened in the 1950s as a five-day market, is now permanently operating. As a result of the development of the Yeongdong Expressway, the market shifted its concentration from wholesale to individual buyers. Numerous eateries opened close to one another, creating a food street within the market.

The market was losing revenue due to the proliferation of supermarkets and the convenience of online shopping. To counteract this, the market introduced an art market in 2013 and was recognized as a cultural market in 2015. The market’s second floor has the Maze Art Market, which is comprised of winding paths lined with tiny design stores and eateries. The monthly flea market is not to be missed on the second Saturday.
